HOLA Casa de la Familia Bradfield

August 11, 2008

Well, everything is well in Stockton. We had a baptism on Saturday and a confimation on Sunday. We are a little nervous about Edgar, if he will stay strong in the church so we are going to try really hard to keep him and help him stay active in the church.

To be honest, this baptism was probably one of the worst baptisms I have ever been to in my entire life, if that is even impossible to have happen. Everything seemed to be going wrong whether it was the Font not being filled when we got there or whether it was last minute cancellations or Edgar getting nervous and almost running! Ah, it was crazy but it all worked out in the end. As I said, we are going to have to make sure he doesn’t go inactive.

Things are great. Turns out that Hermana Dastrup and I put in a good enough defense in our behalf, when they told us they wanted to move us again, that they decided to let us stay! SI! (YES!) We are very happy about that and I'm feeling better now. Now I'm just exhausted! But I'm learning such is the life of a missionary!

So we are working with so awesome people right now. We have a TON of area to cover so it's really hard to see them all every day or every other day and also find new people to teach so its been a crazy week. We are getting ready to teach a part member family tonight. The son of one of our members (Kody's age) is going to start taking the missionary lessons. He came to church yesterday with his dad and we are really excited to teach him!

Oh I wish you all could be here to live the missionary life with me! It's so AWESOME! I don't know if they have started talking about it there in Colorado or if its just a Sacramento mission thing or what but I think its a church wide thing. Anyway, Pres. Jardine was talking to us last Zone Conference about the ward mission plans that the General Authorities are starting to send out about Ward Missionary work. I am so blessed to be serving in Sacramento because they really have some of the BEST members I have ever seen, especially when it comes to Missionary work. They know what being a member of the church is about.

Anyway, this "Training" talked about how the wards need to have a mission plan and their own copy of the Area Book so that they can start getting more involved in Missionary work. It's time to really start stepping it up and start DOUBLING baptisms that Pres. Hinckley talked about so many years ago. This "Training" was talking about how the members in the ward need to bring at least 20-30 new investigators to church EVERY week. (Sounds crazy huh?) This is total for the whole ward. And also how the members (as a whole ward) need to be going out and helping the missionaries at least 20-30 times a week. Members are SO important. That’s one thing I have learned since I have been on my mission. I have such a strong testimony of using members in missionary work. If we haven't brought a member back with us by the 2nd or 3rd lesson, we usually don't have those lessons with our investigators.

I tell you this not to scare you or try and make you feel bad but to help you understand what is expected of us as members of the church. We need to become disciples of Jesus Christ and share his gospel with the world. We are in the last days and we need to all be better about preparing the world and ourselves for when that time comes.

I love you and I hope you all have a fun week hanging out!

Para Siempre-
Hermana Bradfield

Buenas Dias Noticias Newsletter - Hola Familia and Amigos! Stockton is great, as always. The work is coming along great. We just had another baptism last Saturday. His name is Edgar and he is a unique/genuine person. He is so funny, even though half the time he doesn't mean to be. He likes to march to the beat of his own drum. His baptism was a little bit of a challenge, but we got through it. He was our newest member yesterday, when he was confirmed and given the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was a really good thing for him and we are so excited to help him continue growing in the gospel.

We added some area onto our already big area this last transfer. We now have a really good, heavily populated Spanish population to tract. It's so great! It's a tad bit more inner city than the older parts of our area, and we are really excited to tract more of the area. We already found a bunchof people to teach in the last week.

Time flies by so fast! Tomorrow is interviews again! I can't believe it! Before we know it, it's going to be transfers again. Alright, well I hope all is well with everyone! Until next week...

Para Siempre,
Hermana Bradfield
